The basket sits inside a strainer body or tank inlet. Water enters the open top, passes through the perforated wall and any mesh lining, and leaves through the housing outlet. Solids larger than the hole or mesh size stay inside the basket. When the pressure drop across the strainer rises, the operator isolates the line, lifts the basket out by its handle, cleans it and puts it back. No consumable cartridge is needed.
