Water Treatment Chemicals 25 kg Packing for Oman and GCC

Published by UV Water Systems Oman on

Water treatment chemicals 25 kg packing is the standard size across Oman and the GCC for a reason: it moves by hand, fits standard dosing tanks, and matches the monthly consumption of most plants in the region. UV Water Systems stocks antiscalants, membrane cleaners, biocides and bulk chemicals in this packing in Muscat.

Why 25 kg Is the Standard Packing

A 25 kg can or bag can be carried by one technician without lifting gear. It fits through a plant room door and onto a standard shelf. Most importantly, it matches how plants actually consume chemical — a mid-size RO plant in Oman uses between 5 and 15 kg of antiscalant a month, so a single can covers one to three months without sitting in storage long enough to age.

Larger drums lower the price per kilogram but bring handling problems: pumps and drum trolleys, part-used drums that absorb moisture, and stock that outlives its shelf life. For sites consuming more than 100 kg a month, bulk packing does make sense, and we quote both.

What We Stock in 25 kg Packing

RO Antiscalants

Membrane Cleaners

Cooling Water and Biocides

Bulk and Process Chemicals

  • Caustic soda flakes (NaOH) — pH correction and alkaline cleaning
  • Sulfamic acid — descaling heat exchangers and boilers
  • Poly aluminium chloride (PAC 30%) — coagulation and clarification
  • Ferrous sulphate — coagulation and phosphate removal

Monthly Consumption by Plant Size

These figures assume a 3 ppm antiscalant dose and 16 hours of operation a day. Use them for planning stock, not for setting a dose.

Plant capacity Antiscalant per month 25 kg cans per year
1,000 LPH 1.5 kg 1
3 m³/h 4.5 kg 2 – 3
5 m³/h 7 kg 3 – 4
10 m³/h 15 kg 7 – 8
20 m³/h 29 kg 14

Membrane cleaner consumption runs differently — one 25 kg can of each cleaner covers roughly three cleaning cycles on a 10 m³/h plant. Most well-dosed plants need two to four cycles a year. The method for setting these doses is covered in our guide on how to select RO antiscalant and cleaning chemicals.

Storage in Gulf Conditions

Ambient temperature is the main constraint in Oman. Store chemicals below 40°C in a shaded, ventilated store, out of direct sun. A plant room with no ventilation regularly passes 50°C in July and shortens the life of every liquid product in it.

Other requirements that inspectors look for:

  • Segregate acids from oxidising biocides. Mixing them releases chlorine gas
  • Bund the storage area to contain a full container spill
  • Keep safety data sheets at the point of use
  • Provide gloves, goggles and an eyewash point
  • Label decanted day tanks with the product name, not “chemical”
  • Rotate stock by date — first in, first out

Shelf life is typically two years for liquid antiscalants in sealed containers and shorter once opened. Dry products such as caustic flakes absorb moisture from Omani humidity and cake if left open. Safety guidance for drinking water chemicals is published by the World Health Organization.

Supply Across Oman and the GCC

We hold stock in Muscat and deliver across the Sultanate, including Sohar, Nizwa, Salalah, Duqm and Sur. GCC supply is available on order, with lead time depending on destination and quantity.

Supply comes with the technical side attached: dose calculation from your feed water analysis, dosing pump and skid supply, commissioning, and annual maintenance contracts covering chemical delivery and membrane cleaning on schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver outside Muscat?

Yes, across Oman. Delivery to the interior and Dhofar is arranged with the order.

Can we order a single 25 kg can?

Yes. There is no minimum order on stocked items.

Do prices include VAT?

Quotations show prices in Omani Rial with VAT stated separately at the prevailing rate.

Can you supply on an annual contract?

Yes. Contract supply fixes the price for the year and schedules delivery against your consumption, which avoids the plant running out. Most of our industrial and hospital clients work this way.

Are safety data sheets provided?

Yes, with every delivery, and on request beforehand for HSE approval.
