Scale a millimetre thick on a boiler tube raises fuel consumption measurably and moves the tube metal closer to failure every day it stays there. Boiler feed water treatment Oman facilities put in place is not a compliance exercise. It is the difference between a boiler that runs at design efficiency for fifteen years and one that needs retubing in six.

Three things damage boilers, and boiler feed water treatment Oman programmes exist to control all three: hardness that forms scale, dissolved oxygen that pits metal, and dissolved solids that concentrate until they carry over into the steam. Every stage below exists to deal with one of them.
Remove hardness first, without exception
Calcium and magnesium precipitate as the water heats, and they precipitate on the hottest surface available, which is the tube. Deal with dissolved oxygen mechanically, then chemically
Oxygen causes pitting corrosion, and pitting kills tubes faster than general wastage because it concentrates the attack in one spot. Handle it in two steps:
- Mechanical. A deaerator, or at minimum a feed tank held at 80–90 °C. Heat drives most of the oxygen out before any chemical is needed.
- Chemical. An oxygen scavenger dosed into the feed line to mop up the remainder, controlled on a residual test rather than a fixed setting.
A cold feed tank is a common and expensive shortcut. It pushes the entire oxygen load onto the chemical dose, which multiplies consumption and never fully succeeds.
Alkalinity, phosphate and condensate
Boiler feed water treatment Oman programmes hold boiler water alkaline so the metal passivates rather than corrodes, typically in the pH 10.5–11.5 range for the drum depending on pressure and the boilermaker’s own limits. A phosphate programme keeps any residual hardness in suspension as a sludge that blows down rather than as scale that bakes on.

Protect it with a neutralising or filming amine so carbonic acid does not eat the return lines, and monitor the return conductivity so a process leak is caught before contaminated condensate reaches the boiler.
Control blowdown with a meter, not a habit
Blowdown is how dissolved solids leave the boiler, and every litre blown down is hot water and fuel out of the drain. Too little and you get carryover into the steam. Too much and you burn money continuously.
Automatic TDS-controlled blowdown holds the drum at the target conductivity and nothing more. Is a softener enough on its own?
For many low pressure steam and hot water boilers, softening plus a proper chemical programme is sufficient. Higher pressures and high make-up rates need RO or demineralisation as well.
